2026 Campaign

No Hate
in WA State

Washington's transgender community is under attack. Here's what's at stake — and how to fight back.

Know the Threat

What Is the 2026
Ballot Initiative?

In 2026, opponents of transgender rights are attempting to use a ballot initiative to eliminate the anti-discrimination protections that Washington's transgender residents have relied upon since 2006.

These protections — enacted by the Washington State Legislature — prohibit discrimination against transgender people in public accommodations including restrooms, locker rooms, and other public spaces.

If the initiative succeeds, transgender Washingtonians would lose a foundational civil rights protection that allows them to navigate public life with safety and dignity.

What's at Stake

  • Protections in place since 2006 — nearly two decades of civil rights law
  • The right to use public facilities that match gender identity
  • Access to healthcare, public spaces, and dignified daily life
  • Washington's standing as a state that protects all its residents
